With the development of power electronics technology, based on the microscopic electronic circuits, it has powerful functions for multi-function measurement, multi-tariff measurement, and power consumption monitoring, etc. The measurement accuracy is improved and the application function is enhanced, but the price is high and the anti-interference ability is poor.

The fourth generation is the current smart meter. Electricity meter rapidly developed to intelligent and systematic under the cultivation of many R&D personnel and production personnel. Smart meter is actually a new type of electronic meter, which has the functions of electricity metering, electricity consumption monitoring, information storage and processing, real-time monitoring, automatic control, information interaction, etc. Smart meter supports two-way metering, stepped and TOU tariff, peak and valley electricity prices, is the technical basis for realizing distributed power metering, two-way interactive services, smart homes and communities.
